Born and raised in South Dakota, Adam received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Minnesota in 2009. He spent the next two years in Omaha, Nebraska studying the acoustic communication of tigers in a collaboration between the Omaha Zoo and Boys Town National Research Hospital. Currently, he is in his third year of Ph.D. work with the Marine Mammal Research Program at the Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology. Adam's current research focuses on studying the potential effects of loud sound exposure on the hearing systems of toothed whales. On theFalkor Student Cruise in February, Adam will be working as a Marine Mammal Observer and Acoustics Research Assistant.
