Falkor (too) offers a range of dedicated lab spaces to support diverse scientific work at sea. Below is an overview of Falkor (too)’s lab and work areas.
For a closer look, take the 3D tour and view the ship’s Science Systems & Equipment.

At 102 m², the Main Lab is the largest lab space on board. It serves as a flexible dry lab for general scientific work.

A 24 m² lab space for general lab use, including wet work.

This 32 m² laboratory space is the closest lab to the back deck and the CTD and ROV hangar and is suitable for wet work.

A 21 m² lab specialized for working with seawater instrumentation. It contains all of Falkor (too)’s underway seawater sensors and provides multiple seawater taps for science-party provided flow-through sensors.

The Hangar is broken up into the CTD Hangar (port side) and ROV hangar (starboard side). It also contains a moonpool (mid-ships) and the 6 m² Dirty Wet Lab work area.

The Robotics Lab is a 22 m² dry work area designed to work on robotic equipment and other technology. This space is used by the SOI tech team and, if required, will be a shared space.

A chilled (nominally +4°C but adjustable from ~2°C to ~10°C) 14 m² combination laboratory work space and cold storage area.
Schmidt Ocean Institute (Schmidt Ocean Institute) is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for collaborative, multidisciplinary research at any time and for any location and year identified as an area of operation for R/V Falkor (too).
