Co-Chief Scientist
I am a geologist by trainning, and did my Master and PhD in Marine Geology and Geophysics. Since 2004 I am a Professor at Universidade Federal do Espirito Santo teaching Ocean Mapping, Submarine Geomorphology, Marine Stratigraphy, Carbonate Sedimentology and Seabed Habitat Mapping. I have acted as supervisor of 12 post-docs; 11 PhD students, 28 MSc students. I coordinate a number of projects on Seabed Mapping, Marine Stratigraphy and Submarine Geomorphology. My research interest are geomorphology as a proxy for habitat mapping and sea-level changes and marine stratigraphy focused on reef geology and sedimentary response to sea-level and climate changes. In the past year I have been developing studies on deep sea habitat mapping and sediemntary processes.I have published more than 120 scientific papers, participated in a number of national and international cruises. During the past 8 years I acted as coordinator of the Marine Geology and Geophysics Brazilian Program.
