Allison Miller

Research Portfolio Senior Manager

Allison Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Science with a minor in Environmental Science from Coastal Carolina University and a master’s degree in Oceanography from Florida State University. Before joining Schmidt Ocean Institute, she managed the National Oceanographic Partnership Program at the Consortium for Ocean Leadership. Allison dove in DSV Alvin in Costa Rica on a mission to service one of IODP's CORK Borehole Observatory stations. She was also science editor for the children’s book “Ocean Hide and Seek.”

Allison joined Schmidt Ocean Institute in 2013. She is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization's research portfolio, including scientific grants, research permits, and agreements related to scientific research using the organization’s assets. She is also responsible for maintaining productive relationships with scientists who work with Schmidt Ocean Institute, helping them share their data and research outcomes and impacts.

She previously served on the National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine's 2025-2035 Decadal Survey of Ocean Sciences for the NSF committee and on the UCAR Community Program's External Advisory Committee. She currently serves as Secretary to the Council of The Oceanography Society.
