Catherine Hernandez Rodriguez is a marine science graduate student at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. She is quantifying seagrass metabolism to better understand "blue carbon" uptake and seagrass bed biogeochemistry through a multidisciplinary approach to better understand the role of seagrasses in carbon sequestration and seawater buffering under ocean acidification. She received her bachelor's degree in biology from the National University of Colombia-Bogota. On this cruise, she wishes to learn from all the excellent researchers about ROS production in mesophotic corals as well as measure TA and DIC for a CO2 Chemistry analysis.
