Principal Investigator
Diana Sahy is a Research Scientist in the Geochronology and Tracers Facility at the British Geological Survey (BGS) in Nottingham. Diana received her Ph.D. at the University of Leicester and is presently responsible for directing BGS’s uranium-thorium (U-Th) dating laboratory, which provides analytical support for projects investigating paleoclimate, marine geochemistry, regional fluid flow, and landscape evolution over the past 600,000 years. Her current research focuses on identifying regional patterns of methane release through time using U-Th dating of methane-derived authigenic carbonates collected at cold seeps. Diana is a Principal Investigator on “Observing Seafloor Methane Seeps at the Edge of Hydrate Stability,” and will coordinate sampling of seep carbonates to identify the local, regional, and global mechanisms associated with methane emission episodes along the U.S. Northwest Pacific margin since the Last Glacial Maximum (~20,000 years ago).
