Hai Doan is a marine planktonist working at Institute of Oceanography, Viet Nam. He had his master of marine science in Aarhus University and his PhD in phycology in Copenhagen University, Denmark. He has been doing phytoplankton research in the Bien Dong (aka South China Sea) for almost 23 years. His main concerns in research including various plankton groups including haptophytes and diatoms. He also works on HABs (harmful algal blooms) and used to work as one of the editors for HABSEA portal, the website for HABs in South East Asia. His research interests also include microbial foodweb, biological fluxes, flowcytometry, and remote sensing.
