Ian graduated from Boston Latin School in the class of 2013. He is currently an undergraduate marine physical sciences student at the University of Maine with an earth sciences minor. At Univervisty of Maine Ian works in the ocean operations laboratory as a buoy technician for the NERACOOS array in the Gulf of Maine. He has developed several pieces of ocean-going hardware now in use on the array as well as having participated in deployment and recovery cruises. Ian is a lifetime sailor who grew up sailing on Boston harbor. Much of his interest in the ocean comes from direct experience working on the water with urban youth at Courageous Sailing Center, a non-profit sailing program in Charlestown. He is working on finishing up his undergraduate degree and is looking forward to moving on to a graduate program soon after.
