Javier Quiñone's main research and PhD thesis was focused on jellyfish occurrence and its relationship with environmental variability in Peru. In 2007, he started a strong research on sea turtles, their population dynamics, and foraging ecology. Lately, since 2018, he has shifted his research to migratory seabirds, especially albatrosses and petrels, their spatial distribution, foraging ecology, habitat, etc, in Peru. He actively participated in several research cruises on pelagic seabirds along the entire Peruvian coast and participated in eleven campaigns to Antarctica (Perú, Argentina, and the USA). He is am currently collaborating with the Conservation of New Zealand on albatrosses & petrels research.
