Jorge Cardich Salazar is a biologist with a PhD in Geosciences from Federal Fluminense University in Brazil. He is a tenured professor at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University (UPCH) and in charge of the marine biology laboratory. Jorge specializes in benthic foraminifera and paleo-oceanography in oxygen-deficient settings, such as the Peruvian Sea. His research interests are marine benthic ecology in coastal areas and the assessment of their ecological quality through the use of bioindicators.Jorge is a member of the UPCH Biogeociences Research group and co-founder of FORHUMS, an academic group for young foraminerologists from Peru and the region.
