I am a marine scientist from Mexico with a focus on zooplankton ecology and the study of food web interactions. I earned my undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from Universidad del Mar (UMAR) in Mexico. I completed a Master’s in Marine Resource Management at CICIMAR-IPN, where I studied zooplankton ecology and identified copepod species.
I am now a PhD in Oceanography at the University of Concepción in Chile. My research investigates the influence of zooplankton and micronekton feeding habits and daily movements on carbon transport in the Southeast Pacific upwelling system. I utilize both bulk and amino acid stable isotope analysis, along with samples from various depths, to investigate food web interactions, trophic levels, and the processes that drive carbon movement in the ocean.
I have participated in several oceanographic expeditions, including the SO296/MAPUCHE cruise on the R/V Sonne in 2023, where I utilized MOCNESS and Multinet systems. During the IDOOS-II cruise, I assisted in collecting samples to study zooplankton metabolism. I am also experienced with biogeochemical sampling, processing images with ZooScan, and data analysis in R.
