My name is Yanelle Silva Luna, I am a marine scientist from the University of Puerto Rico. I am currently doing my Master's in Biological Oceanography in the Ecology and Biology of Coral Reefs Laboratory at Isla Magueyes Research Station. My research interests are focused on benthic ecology and coral diseases. I've been involved in coral restoration, as well as in the response to a novel disease in the Caribbean that is affecting many scleractinian coral species, Stony Coral Tissue Loss Diseases (SCTLD). In this expedition, I will be supporting the deep-sea coral team processing samples and also the Geochem team.
