Chief Scientist
Dr. Charlie Paull is Senior Scientist at MBARI with interests in the geological evolution of the seafloor and the processes that occur on it. In the 1970’s and 80’s he worked on the geology and morphology of steep escarpments that rim the Florida Platform, similar to the Campeche Escarpment. As chief scientist, he is focused on making sure that the Falkor is being used as effectively as possible on this exploratory mapping expedition. The goal is to both reveal the morphology of the escarpment and to identify sites where strata that have been altered by the K-T impact can be targeted with more detailed sampling on subsequent expeditions.
