Edward DeLong

Principal Investigator

Edward DeLong is a Professor of Oceanography at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and a Visiting Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT. DeLong has spent most of his career developing molecular biological and genomic approaches to study naturally occurring microbial communities in the ocean. DeLong served as co-Director of the Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education (C-MORE), a ten-year NSF sponsored Science and Technology Center. He is now a co-Director for the Simons Collaboration on Ocean Processes and Ecology (SCOPE).
