Hugo Berthelot studies the relationships between phytoplankton and biogeochemical cycles in the Ocean. During the cruise, he will measure the planktonic carbon and nitrogen uptake rates at the single cell level. For this purpose, he will use innovative tools such as flow-cytometry cell sorters and nanoscale imaging mass spectrometer. The expected results will help to understand the influence of the different planktonic communities on the ocean dynamics.
