Iza is a geophysical engineer with a Master of Science degree from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), in the field of marine geology. For her thesis she interpreted seismic images from the Chicxulub crater to assist in determining the stratigraphy and structure of the Yucatán carbonate platform. She is currently teaching in the Faculty of Engineering at UNAM. She has participated in university-industry collaborations as a seismic interpreter, taking part most recently in the seismic-stratigraphic analysis of the Chicontepec paleochannel. In this cruise she will participate in multibeam data collection and processing.
