Luke Cravigan is a postdoctoral researcher at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). His research is focussed on aerosol, cloud, and climate interactions in natural environments. The overall goal of this research is to use measurements to improve the implementation of aerosols and clouds in earth system models, resulting in enhanced representation of weather and climate. Luke completed a PhD in in 2019 at the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, QUT, with a focus on the impact of marine biota on aerosol concentrations and composition in remote marine environments, in particular their capacity to act as cloud condensation nuclei. Luke is currently measuring aerosol cloud interactions over the Great Barrier Reef. This work will examine the use of sea spray aerosol to reflect incoming solar radiation and ameliorate the impact of coral bleaching events, feeding into the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program.
