Marcela Charo is a physical oceanographer at Servicio de Hidrografía Naval (SHN, Buenos Aires), specialized in gathering, calibrating, and analyzing high-quality in situ data. She has extensive experience in post-processing and data management during and after cruise acquisition, to ensure that datasets are reusable and comparable with others. She published several technical reports describing the techniques employed and a data publication to present and discuss geophysical data of global relevance. Marcela has also contributed to the International Quality-controlled Ocean Database initiative (IQuOD), a working group focused on constructing a quality ocean temperature database using a consistent and unified quality control standard.
During her career, Marcela has participated in over 35 oceanographic cruises of research projects of SHN and other national and international science and technology organizations. As part of the Falkor (too) expedition “A Tale of Two Submarine Canyons”, she will do a proper management and quality control of the physical data and multidisciplinary water samples collection to ensure that the data set is well documented for future use.
