Michelle Guraieb is starting her Master of Science degree at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in Fall 2021, where she will mainly investigate which deep-sea species colonize different substrates across mineral-rich ecosystems. She received her B.S. in Marine Science and Geography at the University of Sydney, Australia. Since December 2020, she has been a volunteer at the Climate Change and Pollution and Debris working groups within the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative. Through her studies, Michelle hopes to better understand life in the deep sea to promote its conservation and protection.
