Sebastián Rodríguez is a Research Engineer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). He has an M.Sc. from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, focusing on underwater robotics, particularly in magnetometers and gyroscopes bias calibration for enhanced underwater navigation using low-cost sensors.Currently, Sebastián works in the Control, Modeling, and Perception of Autonomous Systems (CoMPAS) Laboratory under the leadership of Giancarlo Troni, focusing on the development of improved tools and methodologies for quantitative ocean exploration. This is achieved through cost-effective, smaller, and power-efficient scalable autonomous platforms with close collaboration across the institute to drive the expansion of marine robotics research efforts at MBARI.
