Matías Portflitt Toro is a Marine Biologist with a Master in Marine Science, both degrees received from the Universidad Católica del Norte, Coquimbo, Chile. He is currently coordinator of the outreach area of the Center for Ecology and Sustainable Management of Oceanic Islands - ESMOI and the BiodUCCT Project of the Faculty of Marine Sciences, Universidad Católica del Norte.As a science communicator, he has participated and headed various projects of communication and dissemination of sciences.As a scientist, his research mainly focuses on seabird ecology (conservation, threats, spatial ecology) in the Southeast Pacific oceanic islands and the coastal islands of the Humboldt Current System.
